IMG_3451.jpg

The Hands-On Lab Program at SNW continues to be a resounding success!  Look for another set of Hands-on-Lab sessions at Storage Networking World Fall 2008, October 13-16 at the Gaylord Hotel in Dallas, Texas.

End Users - Participation in the Hands-on-Lab sessions is free to all approved IT End-User registrants of SNW.  For more information on registering for SNW Fall 2008, please visit SNWUSA.

Vendor Participants - Please download the HOL Brochure and Application for more information on the Hands-On Lab program at SNW.

Open to all end user SNW attendees, the SNIA Hands-on-Lab delivers a unique experience designed to introduce exciting technologies and raise knowledge levels. Students go “hands-on” with real- world exercises. Vendor participants can deliver one-on-one education in a collaborative setting.

For Fall 2008, the Hands-On Lab program will feature the return of five popular technology labs and the introduction of one new lab:

Configuring IP SANs Hands-On Lab - This Lab guides students through the steps required to quickly setup and configure a fully featured Internet Protocol (IP) Storage Area Network (SAN). Upon completion, attendees will better understand IP based SAN strategies and current capabilities and usage of IP Storage solutions.

Zero to FC SAN ahd Beyond Hands-On Lab- This Lab guides students through the steps required to set up a simple Fibre Channel (FC) Storage Area Network (SAN).  Upon completion, attendees will better understand a variety of SAN components and their interaction.

Establishing a Virtualized Storage Environment Hands-On Lab- This Lab guides students through the steps required to establish a virtualized storage environment.  Upon completion, students will have a good basic understanding of how to set up and configure a block and file system virtualized storage environment with appropriate security.

Managing Storage and Data Resources Hands-On Lab -This Lab guides students through the steps required to discover and manage storage. Upon completion, attendees will have a good basic understanding of how to use Storage Resource Management (SRM) applications in SAN environments to efficiently manage Storage Management Initiative Specification (SMI-S) enabled SAN resources.

Securing and Protecting Your Data Hands-On Lab -This Lab focuses on data protection and storage security, and guides students through the steps required to assess their environment and minimize risk. Upon completion, attendees will better understand the best practices involved in classifying information, de-duplicating data, encrypting data, securing remote environments, and meeting compliance requirements.

New for Fall 2008 Server Virtualization Hands-On Lab –This Lab features exercises that showcase the latest technologies to help IT end user attendees establish and maintain a virtualized server environment.
