Facilities Description

The SNIA Technology Center offers world-class educational facilities and labs for use by SNIA member companies, training companies, and other IT organizations. With an installed state-of-the-art networking and hands-on training infrastructure, the facilities are uniquely designed for training on storage hardware, storage software, and networking.

The advanced fibre and copper networks throughout the classrooms are also ideal for "plugfest" type events, where multiple companies can gather to test interoperability or standards adherence across a network in a vendor-neutral environment.

Educational Facilities

Three 1000-sq.-ft. classrooms with retractable walls are available and can be used individually or combined to create a single 2000-sq.-ft. or 3000-sq.-ft. room. The classrooms at the SNIA Technology Center are suitable for:

• Training classes
• Educational seminars and conferences
• Group meetings

Standard classroom and meeting room equipment is available, including white boards, flip charts, overhead and LCD projectors, and speaker phones.

Hands-on Training Lab

The Hands-on-Training Lab serves as an adjunct to the classrooms and provides environment for students to gain real-life experience in building, configuring, and troubleshooting complex hardware and software environments. The 1050-sq.-ft. lab is outfitted with 14 high-quality, 3-tier electronic workbenches, with embedded networking and power.

Test Labs

The SNIA Technology Center offers a unique environment for interoperability testing of advanced networked storage environments with its test labs. The Test Labs can be used for:

• Proof-of-concept testing
• Interoperability testing and demos
• Plugfests
• Pre-staging for conference demos

General Terms and Conditions

All equipment and programs taking place at the SNIA Technology Center are under the general governance of the SNIA, its Policies and Procedures, in addition to any other guidance documents for a particular program, lab, or technology initiative. Additionally, a general guidance documents for all activities taking place at the SNIA Technology Center speaks to issues of confidentiality, reverse-engineering, and both insurance and shipping of equipment, etc.

Equipment List

Companies can supplement their own equipment with equipment available on loan to the Tech Center from SNIA member companies.

The Equipment Loan Agreement is for use by those who want to loan hardware/software to the SNIA Technology Center.
